[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Investigation continues in fatal MVA

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Sunday January 26, 2020, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on State Route 4 in the area of Waite Road, in the Town of Kingsbury. The vehicles collided in the northbound lane, causing significant damage to the southbound vehicle.

The operator of the northbound vehicle was identified as Lonny Madison, age 64. A passenger was also in Madison’s vehicle, and both were transported to Glens Falls Hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the southbound vehicle was identified as Jacobi Mathews, age 23 from Buffalo. Mathews was confirmed deceased on scene. 

The preliminary investigation indicates weather and icy road conditions were a factor in the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
