[ARCHIVED] Sheriff's Office investigator receives award

Inv. Kristen Hardy and Sheriff Jeff Murphy

It's National Crime Victims' Rights Week and members of the Sheriff's Office were in attendance as victims of crime and those who serve them were honored this morning at The Queensbury Hotel.

A newly established award was unveiled. The Bruce H. Hamilton Crime Victims Award, honors extraordinary individuals in law enforcement, victims advocacy, D.A's Office or other criminal justice field whose work has been particularly noteworthy, and exemplifies a long-term commitment of providing both immediate crisis intervention, and comprehensive follow-up with crime victims, witnesses, family, friends, and other individuals impacted by criminal events.

The award was presented to Inv. Kristen Hardy for her work on a high profile serial rapist case in which a military recruiter used drugs to incapacitate many of his victims. This was a very complicated case with multiple victims locally and a case that required hundreds of interviews across the country.
