[ARCHIVED] HOME FIRE SAFETY REMINDER: Change your clocks, change your batteries!

Smoke Detectors

With Daylight Savings Time kicking in this weekend, Fire Coordinator Glenn Bristol and the members of the Washington County, NY - Department of Public Safety remind you that changing the clocks is always a great time to make sure those life-saving devices in your home are working in tip-top, lifesaving shape! Change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and test them! Working smoke / carbon monoxide detectors save lives!

Check the Date: Consider replacing your Smoke / Carbon Monoxide detectors if needed (they all have a recommended replacement age on the underside). The newer detectors are equipped with built-in 10 year batteries.

Smoke / Carbon Monoxide Alarms save lives! Don't believe it? The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)'s got plenty of info to back it up right here:
