[ARCHIVED] Store manager arrested after fleeing state

Luther R. Jeffries

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Thursday, April 2nd 2015, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Luther R. Jeffries of White Birch Estates, Moreau. Jeffries was arrested on a Washington County Court Arrest warrant for Grand Larceny 3rd, a class D Felony.

Jeffries was accused in 2006 of stealing $19,790 from the Fort Edward Family Dollar Store while he was the store’s manager. It’s alleged that Jeffries stole four days worth of deposits and fled the state.

Recently, Jeffries has been active on Facebook as the CEO of a Penny Stock Company called Luxuriant Holdings. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous calls over the last month, from across the country, regarding Jeffries. These calls were reporting that the company was believed to be a scam and the public was making inquiries about the active warrant listed on our website. Through the public’s assistance we were able to locate Jeffries at a location in Moreau.

Jeffries was arraigned in Washington County Court and held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 secure bond.
