According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on February 13, 2018 the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Saratoga Springs woman for Offering a False Instrument 1st, a Class E Felony. On August 16, 2017, Melissa J. Hunt, 52, of Saratoga Springs, was applying for assistance from the Washington County Department of Social Services. Hunt submitted a falsified document in an attempt to receive temporary housing assistance. No benefits were obtained from fraudulent act as the Department of Social Services caught the deception prior to services being granted. Hunt was arrested at the Fort Edward station, issued an appearance ticket and released to appear at a future date.
