[ARCHIVED] Two injured in Kingsbury accident

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on November 16, 2017 at about 12:13 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident at the intersections of Maple Street and Burgoyne Avenue in the Town of Kingsbury.

After an investigation, it was determined that Tracey L. Bennefield, 40, of Elmhurst Drive in Queensbury was operating a 2016 Kia south on Burgoyne Avenue when she failed to yield the right of way at the red light and struck a vehicle that was headed east on Maple Street. That vehicle, a 2016 Jeep, was being operated by Cora M. Irwin, 50, of County Route 43 in Fort Ann.

Bennefield was transported to Glens Falls Hospital by Fort Edward EMS with shoulder and arm pain. Irwin was treated on the scene for an apparent minor arm injury and declined to go to the hospital. A portion of the intersection was closed for a short time while the crash was being cleared. Bennefield was issued a citation for failing to yield the right of way.

The accident was handled by Deputy Ethan Macura and Lt. Todd Lemery. Fort Edward EMS and the Kingsbury Fire Department assisted at the scene.
