[ARCHIVED] Whitehall woman airlifted after accident


According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of personal injury motor vehicle accident involving multiple vehicles on State Route 149 in the Town of Fort Ann. It was determined that three vehicles were involved.

A 2012 NISSAN driven by HILLARY STARK was traveling eastbound, when it veered into the opposing lane and sideswiped a 2000 Dodge 3500 pickup truck, traveling westbound, and driven by DAVID LAUIUPPA of Connecticut. STARK’s vehicle continued and then struck a 2013 GMC pickup truck head-on , which was traveling westbound, driven by DAVID THOMAS, of East Greenbush, NY.

STARK was transported to ALBANY MEDICAL CENTER by a medical helicopter with serious internal injuries and multiple fractures. Both the driver and passenger in the Thomas vehicle were transported to GLENS FALLS HOSPITAL with apparent minor injuries. There were no other reported injuries.

A section of Route 149 from Tripoli Road to Buttermilk Falls Road was closed just over 2 hours while the scene was cleared. Investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the accident and the investigation is ongoing.
