[ARCHIVED] Salem man arrested after being refused alcohol sale


SALEM -According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Stewarts store in Salem for a report of an intoxicated male attempting to purchase alcohol on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 5:01 pm.

MATTHEW W. MECZYWOR JR. , 52, of Main Street in Salem was located near the store highly intoxicated. MECZYWOR had driven to the store and attempted to purchase more beer however was refused by store employees. MECZYWOR then fell to the floor and managed to make his way to the steps of a residence next door to the store. His vehicle was later located in the store parking lot. Multiple witness saw and reported seeing MECZYWOR drive into the parking lot.

MECZYWOR failed multiple field tests and later tested a .29%, blood alcohol content. He was processed and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated. MECZYWOR is due back in Salem Court on March 23, 2015. The arrest was made by Sgt. Dave Buxton and Deputy Joshua Whitney.
