The Washington County Department of Public Safety and Fire Coordinator Glenn Bristol advise the statewide Ban on Residential Brush / Open Burning is effect and will continue to be in effect through May 14th at 11:59 PM. Check here first: http://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/58519.html The full text of Part 215 relating to Open Burns can be found here: https://goo.gl/4egDUC Reminder: The towns of Dresden, Fort Ann and Putnam are designated "Fire Towns" under the Environmental Conservation Law and require permits to be issued from DEC. Violators of the open burning state regulation are subject to both criminal and civil enforcement actions, with a minimum fine of $500 for a first offense.
