[ARCHIVED] Kingsbury man charged after accident

Kingsbury MVA

KINGSBURY - According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to State Route 196 in the Town of Kingsbury for a report of a one car motor vehicle accident at 9:12 pm.

On scene, emergency personnel located Jeffrey S. Corlew, 55, of Kingsbury, New York still in the vehicle.

Corlew had been operating his 2004 GMC pick-up, west on State Route 196 when he veered across the opposing lane of travel, clipped a power pole and continued on until becoming stuck in deep snow. Power was knocked out in the immediate area for a brief time as a result.

During the investigation, it was determined that Corlew was intoxicated and a blood sample was secured for testing. Corlew was transported by Fort Edward EMS to Glens Falls Hospital for a facial injury.

Corlew was charged with driving while intoxicated and multiple vehicle and traffic violations. Additional charges are possible depending on the results of the blood analysis which will be completed by the New York State Police Forensics Lab.

Traffic was reduced to one lane while the accident was being cleared. The Kingsbury Fire Department and National Grid also assisted at the scene. The case is being handled by Deputy C.J. Davidsen.
