According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on January 9, 2017 the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Christopher M. Rockwell, 31, of Burgoyne Avenue in Fort Edward, New York.

Rockwell was arrested and charged with failure to properly register as a sex offender, a class D felony. He was processed at the Law Enforcement Center in Fort Edward and later arraigned in Fort Edward Town Court.

Rockwell was remanded to the Washington County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secure bond.  Rockwell is a Level 2 registered sex offender because of a 2007 conviction for sexual misconduct.

The case was investigated by deputies Chris Murray, Kyle Kolar and Lt. Aron Bassett. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review and possible Grand Jury action.
