[ARCHIVED] Minor injuries in Granville accident

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a personal injury motor vehicle accident on State Route 40 in the Town of Granville on October 14, 2016 at 7:41 am.

Herbert D. Webber, 62, of County Route 11 in Whitehall was operating his 2012 GMC pick-up truck up truck northbound on State Route 40 south of County Route 17. Webber told deputies that he swerved to avoid a group of deer in the roadway, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and exit the west side of the roadway. Webber’s vehicle continued along a ditch until ultimately crashing through a wooden fence and coming to rest after striking a tree. The vehicle suffered extensive damage.

Webber was able to exit the vehicle on his own and was evaluated by EMS at the scene for back pain and body soreness. He declined to be transported to the hospital. No citations were issued.

The accident was handled by Deputy Don Jett and Sgt. Todd Lemery. Granville Fire and EMS also assisted at the scene.
