[ARCHIVED] Woman arrested, found with cocaine and pills at jail

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Monday September 12, 2016, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tanya T. Lee, 35, of Watervliet, New York. Lee was charged with promoting prison contraband in the 1st degree, a class D felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony and promoting prison contraband in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Lee was remanded to the custody of the Washington County Jail on a separate matter. During the booking process, Correctional staff searched Lee, who was found to have contraband concealed in her sock and underwear. The contraband consisted of prescription pills and cocaine.

Lee was arrested and processed at the Law Enforcement Center in Fort Edward. She was arraigned in Fort Edward Town Court and remanded for lack of bail, with bail being set at $10,000/$20,000.

The case was investigated by Inv. Michael McWhorter and Deputy Brad Hamilton and will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review. Action of the Grand Jury and additional charges are possible.
