According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Monday August 1, 2016, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sara E. Barrachina, 28, of Whitehall. Barrachina was charged with grand larceny in the 4th degree and welfare fraud in the 4th degree, both class ‘E’ felonies.

Based on the results of an investigation by the Washington County Department of Social Services and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Barrachina is accused of failing to report changes in household income, while collecting welfare benefits.
