[ARCHIVED] Second arrest for volunteer firefighter


According to Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has again arrested Justin Martingale, 26, of Granville.

The arrest is the result of an ongoing investigation into allegations that Martindale had an “inappropriate” relationship with a 15 year old female. A second victim came forward after news of his last arrest was released.

The investigation revealed that Martindale had also met this second (victim), another 15 year old girl at a dance held at the Granville Hook and Ladder Fire Department. The Hook and Ladder regularly hosts dances for area teenagers for fund raising purposes. Martindale was a member of the Hook and Ladder at the time and had volunteered to chaperone at the dances.

Martindale is alleged to have sent indecent photos to the victim through facebook messenger. He is also alleged to have had engaged in sexual intercourse with her in the Town of Granville, back in May. In this case, Martindale has been charged with disseminating indecent material to a minor in the first degree, a class D-Felony, rape in the third degree, a class E-Felony and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in the Fort Edward Town Court and remanded to the Washington County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate as to whether or not there are further victims.
