[ARCHIVED] Volunteer firefighter charged with rape

Martindale

According to Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Justin Martindale, 26 , of Granville.

The arrest is the result of an investigation into allegations that Martindale had an “inappropriate” relationship with a 15 year old female.

The investigation revealed that Martindale had met the 15 year old girl at a dance held at the Granville Hook and Ladder Fire Department. The Hook and Ladder regularly host dances for area teenagers for fund raising purposes. Martindale is a member of the Hook and Ladder and had volunteered to chaperone at the dances.

Martindale is alleged to have had sex with the 15 year old on two separate occasions in the Town of Granville.

He has been charged with two counts of rape in the third degree, class “E” felonies. He was arraigned in the Granville Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

The investigation is ongoing.

Investigator Matt Lohret, is handling the case.
