[ARCHIVED] Minor injuries in Fort Edward accident

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a two car personal injury accident on State Route 197 at the intersection with County Route 42 (St. James Road) in the Town of Fort Edward on June 14, 2016 at approximately 3:39 PM.

Wendy R. Evarts, 40, of Maple Street in Hudson Falls was operating a 2000 Volkswagen and attempted to cross over State Route 197 from Swamp Road and onto County Route 42. Evarts was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on State Route 197.

The westbound vehicle was a 2005 Hyundai operated by Robert J. Willard, 53, of Glen Street in Glens Falls.

Evarts was transported to Glens Falls Hospital by Fort Edward EMS with apparent minor injuries. Willard also had minor injuries caused by airbag deployment however was not transported.

Traffic was limited to one lane while the scene was being cleared. Evarts was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way. The Fort Edward Fire Department was also on scene assisting.

The accident was handled by Deputies John LaTour, Todd Riche and Sgt. Todd Lemery.
