[ARCHIVED] Three arrested following investigation

arrests

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three former Washington County Social Services employees based on the results of an investigation by the Washington County Department of Social Services and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Lecia B. Carpenter, 52, of Hudson Falls, Courtney M. Carlton, 35, of Cambridge and Rhonda M. Irving, 47, of Hudson Falls were arrested.

The former employees are accused of entering false information on weekly time sheets and submitting them in attempts to defraud the County out of extra time they were not entitled to. Social Services staff noticed the false information prior to any extra time being issued. The Sheriff’s Office was then contacted and brought in on the investigation.

All three were processed at the Law Enforcement Center in Fort Edward and charged with falsifying business records in the 2nd degree, a class A Misdemeanor. They were issued appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Fort Edward Court on June 21, 2016 at 1:30pm.

The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review and possible Grand Jury action and additional charges are possible.
