According to Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Jami Burns, 30 , of Queensbury.
The arrest is the result of an investigation into welfare fraud.
Burns is alleged to have failed to disclose income she had received to the Washington County Department of Social Services while applying for public assistance benefits.
As a result of failing to disclose this income, Burns received $1733.00 in benefits that she would not have been entitled to had she reported her income.
Burns is also alleged to have given false information on a written statement that she gave to a Washington County DSS employee.
Burns has been charged with grand larceny in the fourth Degree, offering a false Instrument for filing in the first degree, both class E felonies, and welfare fraud in the fifth degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Burns was released on an appearance ticket and is to answer the charges at a later date in the Fort Edward Town Court.
