[ARCHIVED] Local farm to help Sheriff's Office comfort children

Lavenlair Bear

According to Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is joining with Lavenlair Farm to provide children victims a homemade bear containing natural lavender satchet.

Co-Owners, David and Diane Allen recently approached the Sheriff’s Office offering to donate 1 bear for each bear they sell. The owners’ hope is that the natural calming abilities of their home-grown lavender will ease a child’s emotional state, when they are victims of varying crimes.

The Allen’s own Lavenlair Farm located at 437 Deweys Bridge Road in Whitehall. One bear can be purchased for $20, with the Allen’s matching that purchase and donating one bear to the Sheriff’s Office. Bears can be purchased online at lavenlairfarm.com or at the farm by calling Diane at 973-820-3264. The bears will also be available at various events in the local communities.
