According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on May 14, 2016 at 6:26 pm, deputies observed a vehicle traveling north on State Route 40 in Greenwich at 80 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.
While deputies were attempting to stop the vehicle, it crossed over the center line into the south bound travel lane and struck a guide rail. The driver was identified as Corey A. Saxton, 29, of County Route 113 in Greenwich and deputies could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath.
Saxton failed a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Fort Edward where he was processed and tested a .15% blood alcohol content.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated and multiple vehicle and traffic violations before being released to a third party. Saxton is due in Greenwich Court on June 13, 2016. Neither Saxton or his passenger were injured.
