[ARCHIVED] Accident leads to DWI Arrest

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on March 17, 2016 at 1:55 am, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to State Route 197 in the Town of Fort Edward for a report of a motor vehicle accident, vehicle off the road.

Upon arrival, sheriff’s deputies located a 2014 Mitsubishi, off the roadway, with the front of the vehicle buried in mud. The driver, Emily S. Matuszczak, 23, of Swan Way in Glens Falls was uninjured and still at the wheel of the vehicle.

Deputies observed open wine and vodka containers throughout the vehicle and could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Matuszczak . She appeared intoxicated and failed several field sobriety tests. Matuszczak was arrested and taken to the Law Enforcement Center in Fort Edward where she was processed and tested .13% blood alcohol content.

Matuszczak was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating with a BAC of .08% or more and issued traffic tickets. She was released to a sober third party and is due in Fort Edward Court on April 12, 2016.

Deputies Robert Danko and Jennifer Noble handled the case.
