[ARCHIVED] Kingsbury man injured in accident

Kingsbury MVA

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on March 10, 2016 at 12:07 am, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on State Route 4 just south of Geer Road in the Town of Kingsbury.

While sheriff’s deputies were responding, they were advised that there were power lines down and the operator had exited the vehicle and fled on foot. As sheriff’s deputies arrived, they were advised that the operator of the vehicle, later identified as William V. Kuster, 27, of Kingsbury, NY, had returned and climbed back into the vehicle.

Emergency personnel urged Kuster to remain in the vehicle until the power could be shut off. There was a broken power pole with low hanging wires with some draped across the cab of the truck.

Once National Grid shut the power off, Fort Edward EMS and Kingsbury Fire Department members removed Kuster. He was transported by Fort Edward EMS to the Glens Falls Hospital with head and neck pain.

The accident remains under investigation and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. Power was out for a time to residents in the area.

Kingsbury and Fort Ann Fire Departments were on scene assisting along with the Fort Edward Rescue Squad. Sgt.’s Michael Distasio and Robert Sullivan are handling the case.
