The pedestrian who was killed in the Greenwich vehicle vs. pedestrian accident has been identified. Shirley Coon, 81, of Greenwich was struck by a vehicle and killed Thursday night on State Route 29 in front of the Middle Falls Fire Department at 6:03 pm.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was interviewed by law enforcement. There was no sign of impairment, and it does not appear that there is any criminal conduct on the drivers part.
Sheriff’s investigators are working to determine what happened and are requesting that anybody that may have witnessed the accident or may have been at the accident scene to contact Investigations at 518-746-2494 or 518-746-2475.
Coon was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Coroner Tracy Snell. A portion of State Route 29 in the immediate area was closed as Sheriff Officials worked the scene.
