[ARCHIVED] The Extreme Cold Weather has arrived - Be safe, stay warm, heat safely!

The National Weather Service is advising our area is set to experience extreme cold weather into and over the weekend.

A Wind Chill Watch will be in effect from 2/13/2016 1:00 PM to 2/14/2016 1:00 PM EST for Washington County. Alert link: https://inws.ncep.noaa.gov/a/a.php?i=411766

We can expect Extreme Cold this weekend, daily average temperatures will be 10 degrees F or less Friday through Monday. Gusty winds this weekend / dangerously cold wind chills. The Timing of Extreme Cold is expected Friday through Monday.

Potential Impacts:
- Frostbite and hypothermia possible for those without proper protection from the cold
- Possible increase in fires from alternative heating sources or people trying to thaw frozen
pipes with blow torches
- Possible carbon monoxide poisoning from alternative heating sources
- Possible vehicle failure
- Possible water main breaks and pipe bursts
