[ARCHIVED] Whitehall woman arrested after welfare fraud investigation

According to Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Danielle Prosser, age 32, of Whitehall.

The arrest is the result of an investigation into a complaint filed by the Washington County Department of Socials Services, alleging that Prosser filed applications for services and failed to disclose her husbands’ employment on her applications.

As a result she received $4301.10 in benefits that she was not entitled to.

Prosser has been charged with welfare fraud in the fourth degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree and offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, all class E felonies.

Prosser was released pending prosecution in the Fort Edward Town Court.

The arrest was made by Sr. Inv. Tony LeClaire with assistance from the Washington County DSS Welfare Fraud Investigations Unit.
