According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Friday January 8, 2016, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sradhanand Ramrattan, age 66, of Wells, Vermont. Ramrattan was charged with offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, a class E felony.
Ramrattan is accused of providing false information on an application submitted to the Washington County Department of Social Services. Application contained false information for his address, rent paid and his landlord. The investigation concluded prior to Ramrattan obtaining any benefits.
Ramrattan was arrested and processed at the Fort Edward station. Issued an Appearance Ticket and released to appear in Fort Edward Town Court at later date.
The case was investigated by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Social Services. The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review and possible Grand Jury action.
