[ARCHIVED] Corrections Division will also grow "beards for bucks"

Beard Star

The Corrections Division at the Washington County Sheriff's Office is also growing "beards for bucks" for a great cause. Correctional Officers started growing beards on December 1st as part of a fund raiser in memory of Dick Van Aernem, a fellow correctional officer who recently passed away. All proceeds raised by the Correctional Staff will go to the Ronald McDonald House and St Jude.

It will be a first for the jail as it is for the road patrol. Beards typically are not allowed by correctional officers or road patrol deputies. The road patrol will honor friend and colleague, Sergeant Tommy Golden who also recently passed away. Sgt Golden was well known locally for his efforts with the Toys for Tots program.

Both fund raisers are for great causes and we hope everyone raises a boat load of money for their causes.
