[ARCHIVED] Glens Falls man arrested under Leandra's Law

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on November 17, 2015 at 12:59 pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Glens Falls man after he struck a parked car in the Village of Fort Ann.

Joshua N. Abbatiello, 33, of Staple Street in Glens Falls was operating a 2005 Dodge Durango on State Route 4 in the Village of Fort Ann when he struck a parked car. At the time, there was a sheriff’s deputy behind Abbatiello who witnessed the accident.

Abbatiello was stopped and appeared intoxicated. He failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested. He also had two young children in the vehicle, ages 3 and 4 at the time of the accident. Abbatiello was taken to the Law Enforcement Center in Fort Edward where he was processed and tested .10% blood alcohol content.

Abbatiello was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law as well as 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child and failed to stay within designated lane. Neither Abbatiello or the children were injured in the accident.

Abbatiello was arraigned in Whitehall Court and sent to the Washington County Correctional Facility for lack of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bail bond.

Deputy Brad Hamilton made the arrest with assistance from Deputy Josh Whitney.
