[ARCHIVED] Parolee arrested for possessing handguns

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Friday October 9, 2015, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kenneth Hayward III, 27, of Granville. Hayward was charged with 2 counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, both class D felonies.

Hayward is accused of possessing two handguns illegally when he has previously been convicted of a crime. He is currently on parole for a 2013 burglary conviction. During the course of a parole check, he was found to be in possession of a .22 caliber handgun and a .380 caliber handgun.

Hayward was arraigned in the Town of Hartford Court and remanded to the Washington County Jail in lieu of bail. The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for possible Grand Jury action and/or additional charges.
