[ARCHIVED] Fort Edward man injured after being ejected from snowmobile

Accident Investigation

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a personal injury snowmobile accident on a snowmobile trail off Tracy Road in the Town of Kingsbury on Saturday January 31, 2015 at 5:09 PM.

The scene was located approximately 1 mile from the roadway in a field. Michael R. Bardin, 62, of State Route 4 in Fort Edward, New York was located with leg, chest and rib injuries. Bardin was operating his 2005 Polaris snowmobile south on marked snowmobile trails when he veered off the marked path and struck a culvert.

Bardin was ejected and landed several feet from the snowmobile. He was transported to Glens Falls Hospital by Fort Edward EMS.

Deputies are looking into whether excessive speed and alcohol played a part in the accident. Bardin was riding with several other riders at the time of the accident.

Deputy John Latour is handling the case which is still under investigation.
