[ARCHIVED] Board of Supervisors appoint a new Director of Public Safety.


The members of the Public Safety committee and Board of Supervisors have named the next Director of Public Safety!

Glen P. Gosnell has been chosen at the next Director of Public Safety, following the Board of Supervisor's meeting held on September 18, 2015, he will start in his new role in late October. Glen is a 16 year member of the Department of Public Safety, having risen from the ranks of a Per-Diem Communications Officer, up to his current rank of Supervising Communications Officer within the Communications Division.

Glen has extensive knowledge and experience with the county's radio communications system and has been a member of the team representing Washington County in the Adirondack Regional Interoperable Communications Consortium since its inception. Glen was also a prior Deputy Haz-Mat Coordinator for the county's Hazardous Materials team.

Glen has been active in the Fire and EMS services for the last 28 years, most recently serving with the Hartford Volunteer Fire Company and Granville Rescue Squad. Glen also served previously with the Cambridge-Greenwich Police Department as a Patrol Officer. He is a proud member of the United States Navy Reserve, currently serving as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman and the Command Senior Chief / Senior Enlisted Leader for Military Sealift Command Headquarters onboard at the Washington Navy yard. Glen also served previously in the United States Air Force.
