[ARCHIVED] Fort Edward woman arrested in welfare fraud case

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Thursday, August 20, 2015, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Meghan Lynch,43, of Fort Edward. Lynch was charged with grand larceny in the 4th degree, a class E felony.

Based on the results of an investigation by the Washington County Department of Social Services and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, Lynch is accused of not reporting marital status and household income, while collecting welfare benefits. As a result Lynch received $4,387.56 .00 in Medicaid benefits she was not entitled to.

Lynch was arrested and processed at the Law Enforcement Center in Fort Edward and released for a future court date in the Town of Fort Edward Court. The arrest was made by Sheriff's Investigator Kristen Hardy.
