[ARCHIVED] Suspect unsuccessful in attempts to film child

Case Update

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, a search warrant was secured for Michal Zlatohlavy electronic devices. Zlatohlavy, 21, of Slovakia who was previously arrested by the Sheriff's Office. He is accused of using a cell phone to attempt to videotape a female while she was taking a shower at camp Chingachgook in Fort Ann.

During the course of the investigation the Sheriff’s Office seized all of Zlatohlavy’s electronics including cell phones, camera, laptop and storage devices. A search warrant was obtained and the items were searched by the NYSP Computer Crimes Unit.

The search found all items on these devices including any deleted items that would otherwise not have been viewable. After reviewing these items it was determined that Zlatohlavy had not been successful in his attempts to videotape campers in the shower, instead only obtaining videos of the shower and walls and none of any actual people. It was also determined that there were no other incidents of this having occurred found on any of his devices.

Based on this thorough search we want to assure all campers and their parents that there are no other victims. We would also like to commend the staff at camp Chingachgook for their quick actions upon learning of this incident. If not for the quick response and actions of an assistant counselor, Sr. Unit Supervisor, camp directors and the bravery of the victim this suspect would not have been caught.

Zlatohlavy is currently incarcerated in the Washington County Jail on these charges and will be further held upon the conclusion of this case by an immigration detainer to be deported back to Slovakia.
