[ARCHIVED] Man killed in Salem accident

According to Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred on State Route 22 near Scott’s Lake Road in the Town of Salem at about 2:56PM on June 27, 2015.

The accident involves two vehicles that collided head on. One person, a 93 year old male has died as a result of injuries received from this accident. At this time the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing names of the parties involved in the accident until their family members have been properly notified.

Neither speed nor impairment was a contributing factor. No tickets have been issued however the accident remains under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office is unaware of any witnesses but anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 747-4623.

The accident is being investigated by Deputy Matt Ashton, Sgt. Dave Buxton and Inv. Matt Lohret. Assisting at the scene was the Salem Fire Department, Salem EMS and Cambridge EMS.
