According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Thursday June 11, 2015, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident, car vs tractor trailer, with injury on State Route 149 in the Town of Fort Ann at 3:06 pm.

Robert R. White, 69, of Ticonderoga was traveling east in his 2014 Toyota on State Route 149 when he struck the rear of a flatbed tractor trailer which was fully loaded with wood. The tractor trailer was driven by Floyd R. Sheldon, 63, of Pawlet, Vermont who told deputies that he was stopped in traffic due to a school bus ahead of him that was also stopped, letting children off the bus.

White was transported to the Glens Falls Hospital by Fort Ann EMS with chest, head and hip pain. Traffic in the area was closed for some time and later limited to one lane as the scene was being cleared. Fort Ann Fire and West Fort Ann First Responders assisted on scene.

White was ticketed for following too closely. The accident is being investigated by Deputy Bill Holcomb.
