INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, Miles R. Stevens, 73 years old, of Whitehall was charged with Course of Sexual Conduct against a child, Sex Abuse in the 1st Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree after an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Washington County Child Protection Services. It is alleged that Stevens had sexual contact on multiple occasions with his victim between the summer of 2021 and September of 2022, and the victim is under the age of eleven (11) years old. Stevens was also found to be in possession of a handgun that he did not hold a permit for. Stevens was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment and held in lieu of bail and is scheduled to appear in the Whitehall Town Court at a later date.
