[ARCHIVED] Queensbury woman charged with felony welfare fraud

INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED: Mary M. Berberian Age: 47 Queensbury, New York 

INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mary M. Berberian, age 47, for Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, a Class E Felony and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, after a joint investigation with Washington County Department of Social Services and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Berberian, filed a false instrument with the Washington County Department of Social Services to obtain benefits that she was not eligible for, resulting in her receiving benefits greater than $1000.00. Berberian  was released after arraignment pending a future court date in the Town of Fort Edward Court.

Charges Filed: (1 Count) Welfare Fraud 4th Degree (Class E Felony) (1 Count) Offering A False Instrument for Filing 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
