[ARCHIVED] Granville woman arrested in connection with fatal accident


According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Monday June 1, 2015, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kristina Loomis, 31 ,from Granville, New York. Loomis was charged with vehicular manslaughter in the 1st degree, a class C Felony, driving while intoxicated 1st, a class E Felony, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 1st degree, a class E Felony and failure to keep right, an infraction.

On Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at approximately 10:30 PM on State Route 22 in the Town of Granville, Loomis was involved in a two car crash that resulted in the death of Elizabeth Gibson,47, also from Granville. Loomis is a to have been operating said vehicle while she was impaired, crossed the double solid center lines into the southbound lane and struck the Gibson's vehicle. Further, Loomis had her driver’s license and privileges to operate a motor vehicle in NYS previously revoked due to prior DWI convictions within the last 10 years.

Loomis was arraigned in the Town of Fort Edward Court and remanded to the Washington County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $ 100,000 secure bond. The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review, possible additional charges and Grand Jury action. The arrest was made by Sheriff's Investigator Matt Lohret and Kristen Hardy.
