INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on June 17, 2021 at about 11:06 AM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Argyle Airport on State Route 40 in the Town of Argyle for a report of a plane crash with injuries.
Upon arrival, Deputies located a fixed wing, single engine Cessna with heavy front end damage that had crashed on the property of the airport. The pilot was identified as David L. Klingebiel, 80 , of Bunker Hill Road and was the only occupant in the plane at the time of the crash. Klingebiel was removed from the plane and transferred to a Lifenet Helicopter. He was flown to the Albany Medical Center with head, chest and leg injuries.
The scene was turned over to officials from the the Federal Aviation Administration and the circumstances and cause of the crash remain under investigation.
