INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Thursday April 1, 2021 at about 1:32 pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident, car vs tractor trailer with injuries. The accident was reported to be on State Route 4 near the intersection of State Route 149 in the Village of Fort Ann.
Deputies arrived to find that a pick-up truck driven by Aaron T. Wall, 46, of Fort Edward had been driving southbound on State Route 4 while towing another vehicle. Wall crashed into the rear of a tractor trailer driven by Larry T. Crosby, 73 , of Carlisle, New York, who was also driving southbound on State Route 4 and was slowing for traffic in front of him. Crosby was hauling wood chip / sawdust type product at the time of the accident.
Wall was trapped in his vehicle for an extended amount of time and had to be extricated by fire and EMS personnel. He was transported by Fort Ann EMS to the Albany Medical Center with serious internal and leg injuries. Crosby was uninjured in the crash. Medical helicopters were requested by EMS however were unable to fly due to weather conditions.
Sheriff’s Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led up to the accident including if drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident. The accident remains under investigation.
A portion of Route 4 and 149 was closed while the accident scene was being cleared.
