[ARCHIVED] Fort Edward man ejected in rollover accident

CTY Rte 43 MVA

According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, on Thursday May 14, 2015, at about 9:02 pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported one car, rollover on County Route 43 in the Town of Kingsbury.

Upon arrival, sheriff’s deputies located Francis E. Marshall Jr., 52, of County Route 43 in Fort Edward lying face down in a field off the roadway. Marshall had been southbound on County 43 in his 2001 Jeep when he veered off the roadway, struck a power pole and was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled in the field. The power pole was sheared in half and there were high tension lines draped close to the ground.

Marshall was taken to the Glens Falls Hospital by Argyle EMS with apparent minor injuries including neck and back pain. National Grid arrived on scene and cut the power to the low hanging power lines. They estimate approximately 22 residents were without power.

Alcohol and excessive speed are believed to be factors in the accident and charges are pending. Hartford and Kingsbury fire departments were on scene assisting along with the New York State Police.

Sheriff’s deputies Paul Trottier and Kyle Kolar are handling the case.
