INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested Lindsey B. Godfrey, age 29, for multiple charges as they relate to the double fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday August 8, 2020 on State Route 313 in the Town of Jackson.
On October 1, 2020, Godfrey was charged with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, a class B felony for causing the death of two people as she operated a motor vehicle in a reckless manner which included mobile phone use, unsafe speed, and intoxication by drugs and alcohol. Godfrey was also charged with Vehicle & Traffic Law violations as they relate to her blood alcohol content and the presence of drugs in her body while operating her vehicle. Blood analysis resulted in a BAC of 0.12 and the confirmed presence of drugs.
Godfrey was arraigned in the Town of Fort Edward Court and released for a future court date.
The collision occurred as Godfrey was operating a 2017 Subaru on State Route 313, when she struck a 2019 Subaru being operated by Richard Chadwick of Cambridge. Richard Chadwick and his mother-in-law Alice Hahn were pronounced deceased on scene. A third occupant of the Chadwick vehicle survived the collision and is recovering.
