Start-Up ADK - Small Business Roundtable - Open to the Public

Wednesday, November 29, 2023

QUEENSBURY, New York (Nov. 20, 2023) — Leading regional entrepreneurs will participate in a local business roundtable for budding entrepreneurs from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in Northwest Bay Conference Center at SUNY Adirondack.
This event is free and open to the public.
Hosted by StartUp ADK, Warren and Washington counties local and economic development corporations, and SUNY Adirondack’s Continuing Education division, this program will begin with a reception for StartUp ADK participants, StartUp ADK alumni, SUNY Adirondack students, area businesspeople and others interested in exploring entrepreneurship.
The roundtable will feature a conversation involving leading regional businesspeople, several of them StartUp ADK graduates. Panelists include:
~ Christy Alexander, owner of Worksmart Coworking & Meeting Space in Glens Falls;
~ Chandler Atkins, Ph.D., distinguished professor at SUNY Adirondack and career entrepreneur;
~ Kate Austin, CEO and founder of Advokate, LLC; and
~ Burt Weber, co-founder of Common Roots Brewing Company in South Glens Falls
The conversation will be moderated by Robert Bullock, adjunct business faculty member at SUNY Adirondack and director of StartUp ADK.
StartUp ADK is a 16-hour non-credit program held twice annually for eight weeks. To promote the broadest participation, seven sessions are held virtually, with the eighth session held on the SUNY Adirondack campus.
During the program, leading area professionals present on topics including insurance, budgeting, human resources, market research, finance, business planning, legal issues, marketing and more. Through the use of business planning software, participants complete the program with a business plan. Residents of Warren or Washington counties who successfully complete this program may be eligible to apply for a small-business loan through Warren or Washington counties local development corporations. StartUp ADK costs $245 per participant.
“We are excited about hosting this event, which brings together StartUp ADK participants with those who might be thinking of bringing their own business visions to life,” Bullock said. “Wherever someone is in their entrepreneurial journey, this evening event will provide a great opportunity to explore all the tools SUNY Adirondack offers entrepreneurs who are chasing their dreams.”
