Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally-funded seasonal program which assists eligible households who meet income guidelines, to receive a one time payment to help meet their home heating cost and heat related electric needs. Individual must apply annually, and the program is available to both homeowners and renters. 

Clean & Tune Component typically runs year round. This component provides for a clean and tune service once a year to eligible households. Applicants must own the home and meet HEAP eligibility requirements. 

Furnace Repair/Replacement Component typically runs year round. This component provides repair or replacement of primary heating equipment to eligible households. Applicants must own and reside in the home and must have done so for the 12 months prior to application. Applicants must also meet HEAP eligibility requirements as well as a resource test.

Cooling Component typically runs from May 1st through August 31st. This component provides for the purchase and installation of a window unit to create a cooling room. A medical need for an air conditioner must be documented and household must be eligible. Applicants must meet HEAP eligibility requirements.
