Global Youth Service Day

We are fortunate in Washington County  to have hundreds of youth who give their time to volunteer in their community each year on Global Youth Service Day and we would like to thank you for all that you do.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of the above projects in Granville please contact the Youth Bureau or Terry Wheeler at Future Farmers of America, Granville Chapter.

Background

For over 20 years, Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22) has brought together millions of children and youth in thousands of communities nationwide to celebrate the year round impact of the youth service movement and to inspire youth to begin a lifetime of service.

On April 25 Youth in partnership with families, schools, businesses, community organizations, and faith bases groups lead activities that improve their communities.

In 2008 the Washington County Youth Bureau along with 50 youth/adults from the Fort Edward Community worked together to reclaim the foot path from the school to McIntire Park.  This volunteer effort was a great example of youth and adults working together to better their community.

Since 2008, Washington County youth in Granville have continued to make a difference in their community by volunteering each year to pick up debris, build fences, rake lawns, create garden’s or sweep sidewalks during Granville Community Service Day which corresponds with Global Youth Service Day.
